The food is OK. Unless you are Mexican, you probably won't like this place...and it gets crazy on the weekends. Plus the sodas all come in cans, so no free refills. When it's not hopping on the weekends, it's pretty boring as a restaurant.

Love this place, the best food in town and you can order anything you want from Menudo to Micheladas. Thier steak is the so juicy and perfectly cooked!

I love this place, food is great and owners are super nice! All these negative comments below just doesn't seem right, and the racial ones just need to stop. If you don't like it cause there are "real" Mexican there then take your business to Taco Bell! Just saying!

A cool looking bar and this place is for Mexicans and mostly those born there more than my amigos who are Americanized and born here. Nonetheless for a quite midday lunch this is an awesome place but I would never come here on night on the weekends ..like I said unless I was born in Mexico.this is a very rare Mexican bar In The suburbs and much nicer than I expected for the outside and its shady immigrant strip mall appearance. The kitchen and bar looked hip and cool a d this is no dumpy taqueria. A world class restaurant.

This place sucks! False advertising, I went here on 2/27/15 and invited my friends and family because certain band was going to perform. They cancelled the band I went to see. I drove from midway all the way to villa park to celebrate my birthday and they completely ruined the night!!!! That was the first and last time I go to this place. Then they tell me oh we can give you free tickets for next weekend...I don't like the bands performing next weekend and I don't trust them because they cancelled proyecto with no notice I don't even think everyone in the poster is going to perform. I wish I could give them negative stars! They ruined my night and my birthday celebration!!!

This place has changed ownership/management. I gave it 5 stars when it was Ayala's, now note rating. No more all you can drink pop, it comes in cans. Prices have increased a couple dollars on all entrees and portions are much smaller. I ordered chicken enchaladas, I got something unknown. I believe cheese(?) but there was so little of it in there I couldn't say for sure. Kind of looked like all it was was a rolled up tortilla. All I know is that they used to be VERY GENEROUS with the cheese on top, and now there was hardly any. Also, my dinner arrived at a luke warm temperature. We had been faithful diners here for the last several years, but we won't be back. Also, new menu is about 1/3rd size of old menu and even with that, they can't seem to put out a good edible product. So sad!

Nothing positive to say about our experience. Came for dinner at 6 on a Thursday. Were literally the only people there. No atmosphere when the place is functioning as a restaurant. Camarones a la plancha were overcooked and very bland. Flautas were fine. Just very average-below average food. After about 20 min of waiting for the bill that never came, we left the money on the table and left.

Great jalapeño dip, great horchata, great enchiladas. Can get pretty packed later in the evening when they have live music, and a club-like atmosphere. You can get cheap gift certificates on restaurant.com , which makes it a great deal. Some of the items on the menu can be kinda plain, but you'll find something you like.

I am rating this place for its food only. I know it becomes a dance club at night, but I have only had lunch at this spot. I did not think Mexican food could taste so good in Chicago. I am from Texas and my quest for decent Mexican food outside of a Rick Bayless establishment has always come up short. The food here is amazing. I have been here twice and both times I am so happy for hours after I leave. The food is so good. Both times I have had a combo that comes with a flauta, tostada, and a taco. The chicken that accompanies the meal in the tacos and in he flauta is very tasty. The rice and beans are also very good. It's hard to find a place that places care in its rice and beans. The chips here are fantastic as well. The staff is friendly, this place is fantastic! I grew up eating Mexican food in South Texas and this food is as close as I've come to the food in South Texas. Love it!

Wow! suburbs can become "Mazes" at times. I felt like I was on "Mission" it took me about an hour to get to this place (discarding coming from far South Chicago) now that I remember it must of been more than an hour because I remember my friend riding shotgun saying that "He did not care if we don't make it to the place, after all he was all ready tipsy." Well this place usually a Mexican restaurant but, its turn to a bar/club on weekend nights. Its a $10 cover, the drink prices are reasonable and well there isn't much about this place its your usual Mexican bar/club scene but, I have to admit I had a blast here and I couldn't believe how many attractive Latina ladies lived in this suburb. I guess the only good thing about this place was that one of my friend's friend popped a bottle of Tequila and the bouncers did not say anything about it.

Ayala's is fantastic. I ordered a gordita de rajas, two tacos del al pastor, and my mom ordered their seafood soup. We also ordered an appetizer of ceviche. The ceviche was SO tasty-- the ingredients tasted fresh and the seafood was definitely NOT from a can or pre-packaged. The gordita de rajas was cooked to perfection, oozing with queso and peppers. The meat in my tacos de al pastor was perfectly spiced and my mom loved her seafood soup. We will definitely be back. Ayala's is a hidden gem!

I sometimes come here for lunch and at times come after work with a buddy for some food and drinks. It is not usually too busy, since i come around 6pm-9pm. Their "Nacho's Ayala" are very good, and the bar has pretty much everything. The drinks are fairly priced and the waiter which is usually there is very nice. I met the owner once, and she welcomed me to the restaurant. I will keep visiting this place on a regular basis.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
